This week we look at Power 5 college golf program rosters and their respective junior rankings. Below are the men of the Big 12.
The Big 12 conference has only been around since the late '90s, but the core group of teams are all looking up at Oklahoma State. Last year they won their 11th Big 12 title to go along with 56 total conference titles! They have 11 National Championship trophies as well as being one of 5 teams advancing to Grayhawk last spring: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Christian, Texas Tech. The Big 12 has had 6 programs win a regional tournament since 2017, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech.

Ohio State has won more conference titles than any other team in the conference, (it's like I copied this sentence from the men's write-up) with 15. If this were 1998 and not 2021, that last sentence would be Indiana, with 7. But, 1998 was their last conference title. That said, the only conference team to win a National Title was the 2010 Purdue Boilermakers. Last spring, Maryland, Michigan, and Michigan State were the three Big 10 team representatives at the NCAA Championships.

Two years before actress Barbara Carrera played Fatima in Never Say Never Again, she starred in Condorman, a movie you haven't seen. Condors are the sports teams for the Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. I have no way to tie this Canadian school to the ACC.

Georgia Tech and Wake Forest each claim 18 conference titles in men's golf, however, the most recent national title is from the defending conference champs, Clemson, in 2003. Clemson also claimed last year's individual NCAA champ in Turk Pettit. Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest all advanced to last year's NCAA Championship at Grayhawk, a conference record.

Random facts, the "B" in Susan B. Anthony is for Brownell. Brownell Middle School is located in Grosse Point Farms, Michigan. Their athletic teams are called the Broncos. On October 11, 2013, the Western Michigan (Broncos) women's soccer team tied the Miami Hurricane's 0-0 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Miami Hurricane's play in the Atlantic Athletic Conference. And that is how we get from Susan B. Anthony to ACC Women's Golf.
This week, I'm taking a look at current Power 5 college golf program rosters and looking at their junior rankings. Today we start with the ACC.
Duke has won 22 of the 32 conference titles, along with 6 national titles. Perhaps that is one reason why their 7 player roster below is full of highly ranked players. They were also one of four ACC teams to make Nationals last spring at Grayhawk, joining Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. Take a look at each of the 12 teams below and see where their players were ranked when they were in junior golf (and/or their WAGR ranking through their college career until this point).
